Coverage & Freshness
What scanr.ai covers, where the data comes from, and when each dataset changes. Read this before you schedule a scan or compare two results: the same payload can legitimately return different stocks at 10:00 and at 16:30.
Markets
scanr.ai covers U.S.-listed securities across every major venue and OTC:
Security types include common stock (cs), ordinary shares (os), ADRs (adrc, adrp, adrr), ETFs (etf), ETNs (etn), exchange-traded vehicles (etv), funds (fund), preferred stock (pfd), warrants, rights and units. GET /api/v2/stocks/ticker-types lists every code.
Every API plan can scan all of them, including OTC and ETFs. The defaults are not "everything", though: see Always set Exchange and Type.
Country of domicile (Universe.Country) is recorded for operating companies. Many securities, including every ETF, have none and appear as unknown, so a country filter also removes all funds.
Not covered: non-U.S. listings, options, futures, forex and crypto.
Where the data comes from
Everything in the second half of that table is scanr.ai's own analysis. The methods are described in the scanr.ai knowledge base.
Freshness
API tokens get this data without delay on every plan.
Timing a scan
Because scans read the in-progress bar, when you run one is part of its definition:
- After the close, daily studies read the settled session. This is the right time for an end-of-day list you'll act on tomorrow; leave a margin after 16:00 ET, for example by running at 16:30. See Run an End-of-Day Screen.
- During the session, a daily RSI or moving-average cross is provisional: it can appear at 11:00 and be gone by the close.
Use GET /api/v2/misc/market-status to decide in code whether the market is open, closed or in extended-hours.
A scan answers for the moment it runs; it is not a backtest. To see how a screen would have done over time, save it and read its performance.
Accuracy
Market data may be delayed and is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete or timely. scanr.ai provides data and tools, not investment advice. Report a data problem to [email protected] with the ticker, endpoint and time.
